The restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment directive went into effect in the EU on July 1, 2006. The directive bans the use of lead and other substances above the specific threshold levels in new electrical and electronic equipment placed on the EU market. This directive has generated much change in the electrical and electronic equipment manufacturing industries as component suppliers and OEMs have changed their designs and processes to meet these directives.
Genie meets the demands of these directives by providing both leaded and RoHS compliant assembly within one facility for both surface mount and through hole designs. Genie's selection of SN100C lead free solder provides smooth, bright, well-formed through hole solder fillets that are free of micro-cracks, bridging, and icicles.
Genie utilizes a state-of-the-art Vitronics Soltec Delta Wave model 6622C wave solder machine to process through hole lead free wave soldering. The 6622C offers the latest in wave soldering technology, resulting in highly reliable, consistent wave solder application with extremely detailed process control options at our disposal to monitor and fine tune.
Come see for yourself how Genie's lead free processing can work for your designs. You will see that good equipment is not enough for consistent, reliable production of printed circuit board assemblies. It takes exceptional people and processes to manufacture at the highest levels. You will find this in the ways that Genie physically separates leaded and lead-free soldering. It is also evident in the way we alter part numbering systems and perform incoming inspections regarding lead-free products and components. Allow us to show you our capabilities and we feel quite certain you will be very satisfied. |
